An accident is stressful enough without waiting hours for the vehicle to be moved. We come out at any hour, clear the damaged vehicle from the scene and take it where your claim needs it to go.
First, make the scene safe
If anyone is hurt, or the vehicle is blocking the road and you can’t move it safely, call 999 first.
- Turn off the engine and put your hazard lights on.
- If it’s safe, get everyone out of the vehicles and away from the traffic.
- Exchange names, addresses, registration numbers and insurance details with the other drivers involved.
- Take photos of the vehicles, the road and any damage, before anything is moved if it’s safe to wait.
- If you couldn’t exchange details at the scene, report the accident to the police as soon as you can, and within 24 hours.
Then call us. Tell us what’s damaged, whether the wheels turn and whether the steering works, so we arrive with the right equipment.
How we recover a damaged vehicle
Accident damage often means wheels that won’t roll, steering that won’t turn, or fluids leaking onto the road. We put skates under locked wheels, winch the vehicle onto the truck bed and strap it at all four wheels. Where it’s safe to, we pick up loose debris the vehicle has left in the road.
Working with your insurer
- Report the accident to your insurer as soon as you can, even if you don’t plan to claim.
- Ask where the vehicle should go. Many insurers use approved repairers, and we can deliver the vehicle straight there.
- Keep our invoice. It’s itemised, so you can send it straight to your insurer with your claim.
If the accident wasn’t your fault, the other driver’s insurer may cover the cost of the recovery. Your insurer or claims handler can tell you how.
