Who we are
This website is run by Van Recovery London. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us about privacy at help@vanrecoverylondon.co.uk.
What we collect
When you call, message or email us, we collect what you choose to tell us, usually:
- your name and phone number
- where you and the vehicle are, and where it needs to go
- the vehicle’s make, model, registration and condition
- proof that you own the vehicle or have the owner’s permission to move it
- payment and invoicing details
Your location
If you tap “Send my location on WhatsApp” or “Use my location”, your browser asks for permission first. Your location is added to a message that you then choose to send to us. This website doesn’t store or send your location anywhere itself.
Why we use it
- To quote for and carry out your recovery, because it’s needed for the contract between us.
- To check a vehicle can lawfully be moved, because we have a legitimate interest in preventing vehicle theft.
- To keep accounting and tax records, because the law requires it.
We never sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.
Who we share it with
Only those who help us run the business, such as our accountant and the providers of our phone, email and invoicing systems, and anyone you ask us to share it with, such as your insurer or garage. If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Invoices and records of jobs are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires. Enquiries that don’t lead to a job are deleted within 12 months.
Cookies and this website
This website doesn’t use cookies or tracking. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security, and deletes them after a short period.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Email help@vanrecoverylondon.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
